A little break from politics now for fear of becoming predictable and or repetitive.

So, finally the list is here in all its subjective glory. A snapshot of my musical tastes now that by tomorrow will probably be out of date. I have stuck to albums I actually have on vinyl where possible. I also tried to steer clear of compilations because it’s a cop out really and because sometimes on the album itself there is that little gem which you would otherwise never have heard. With anything like this I think that such a list is more interesting to think about and construct than the actual list itself, I mean the difference between no. 50 and no. 34 is random and simply based on the whim of the way I was thinking at the time. Most of the stuff outside the Top 20 could be reshifted around as and when. I also avoided picking albums on the basis of one song only so that has meant that some of my favourite songs are not featured because I’m not that fussed about the rest of the album. Anyway for your interest and perusal here it is:

Firstly let’s start with a cop-out! The ones that didn’t quite make it.

60. Kraftwerk – Autobahn

12. Jimi Hendrix – Are You Experienced?

11. Bob Dylan – Bringing it all Back Home

So That should start you speculating as to what is in the Top 10 and what order they might be in. C’mon what do you reckon? If anyone manages to get them all right I’ll feel so astonished as to feel obliged to give them some form of prize. Christ, 8/10 regardless of the order would surprise me. Haywood is in fact the only person I would expect would come even close.

Song Of The Day – INXS ~ Spy Of Love

moog made this comment,
i agree with pimme! perhaps you could take out either number 48 or 40, and put rattle and hum in..or are they all in the top ten? you cant have a top ten without elvis, u2, or REM at least..

[Redbaron responds – Ah, hmm yes you spotted that one then! Duly rectified! As for what is or isn’t in there well that’s for the discussion isn’t it, I think I have made my musical preferences clear before and there are blog entries to prove it!]

descent list my young lad, here are my high and low points.
Good — RHCP, you made me proud!
Good — TWO zeps all ready!

Bad — Supertramp, so bad, at least there was no rush!
Bad — No SMITHS!!!!!

[Redbaron responds – I’ll let you into a secret matey, there’s more Zep to come. I will defend Supertramp because that’s a classic album by anyones definition. As for the Smiths another point very well made and actually if I was allowing greeatest hits then The Smiths would be in the Top 10 -but I don’t own any of the original albums yet. BTW I don’t mind a bit of Rush every now and again so ya boo!]

Rachel made this comment,
EXCELLENT choices. Love Billy Joel, Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, and many of the others. Supertramp is very good. I think my favourite song of theirs would be “It’s raining again.” Nice.
Good entry, mate. I’m not so fond of Bob Dylan’s ‘voice’ as I am with his songs. He’s an amazing writer.
